16. How do doorway pages work?
1. Do you guarantee hits to my Web
site?
No. Realistically, no provider can realistically
guarantee hits to any page, and we won't make that
promise in order to sell you our services. We
understand the Web and how to best promote sites. One
thing you should keep in mind, with our understanding
of Web site promotion, is that your odds of getting
hits are dramatically increased, but it will not
happen overnight.
2. How long does it take to see results?
Result times will vary due to search engine indexing
methods; however, you should notice some almost
immediate results if you choose to have us handle the
Web banner and advertising aspects of your marketing.
You should start noticing your search engine results
within 5 to 8 weeks from the time your updated pages
are submitted to the search engines. It
is not uncommon for our clients to see top rankings
come in for some time after we have finished our
contracted work. It is extremely important that you do
not submit pages to search engines during the time
Accurate Online
is contracted. This can ultimately hurt your rankings
and cause general confusion.
3. Why should my Web site be listed with search
engines?
Approximately 80 percent of people on the Internet use
search engines to find information that they need.
Also, about 75 percent of the people on the Internet
that are using search engines to find a site have an
intent to buy. So, you can see the importance of
search engines; however, search engines aren't the
only avenue of marketing that you need to pursue.
4. What different types of marketing does your
company do?
Accurate
Online
provides many different avenues of marketing and
advertising. Most Internet marketing companies only
provide doorway or gateway pages to promote your site;
however, we realize from many years of experience that
this just simply isn't enough. To get the best
possible results for our clients, we provide doorway
pages, as well as, home and sub-page development and
rework and other aspects of search engine
optimization. We also provide top directory submission
(Yahoo, Open Directory, etc.), Web banner design,
media buying, and many avenues of custom marketing
based on what we think will best accent your type of
business and influence your traffic the most. In
addition to our services, there are several things
that you can also do to help increase your Web site
visibility.
5. Is there anything I can do in addition to
your services that will help my company's visibility?
Yes. Actually, there are many things that you can do
that will certainly help. We have listed several
ideas below that you can try.
If you haven't already, the first thing you can do is
get your own domain name. It provides name recognition
and name association. In addition, it gives your
company a professional and prestigious image that
greatly influences customers and potential
clients.
In addition to the domain name, make sure you have a
professional looking Web site. On the Internet, a
person has only two criteria in which to base their
complete opinion about a Web site: 1.) What their
friends, associates and/or critics tell them about
your Web site/company. 2.) The initial feel they
receive when they visit your site. If you provide
wonderful customer service and you have a professional
looking Web site that isn't "cheesy",
"gaudy" or "annoying" you have a
better chance of creating a customer and a repeat
customer.
Publish your Web and email address on your stationery,
business cards, advertisements, newsletters, articles,
at the bottom of each of your email messages, fax
cover pages, product packages, news releases, and any
other place you can. The more people that see your Web
site URL and associate it with your particular
product, the better your chances of having those
people as customers when the need for your
products/services arise.
Surf
the Internet and email other sites about a
"reciprocal link or link swap. Basically, this is
where you place there Web banner ad on your page and
they place your Web banner ad on there page. Do a
keyword search and contact the top 20 sites to see if
they will trade links with you. Links can potentially
be a powerful method for people to find your site. Not
only can they generate significant traffic, they can
also increase your ranking in certain search engines.
Keep in mind, however, that this requires a
substantial amount of time, and it may take some time
for you to start noticing the results. Also keep in
mind that it takes routine maintenance to keep
everything up to par.
Ask us about our maintenance program. This can be very
advantageous for your company because as your search
engine rankings start to drop, we can be monitoring
them, resubmit them and make suggestions that can help
keep your rankings high. The best way be keep your
rankings high is to catch them when they first start
to fall.
Learn the basics of "Netiquette" and become
an active participant in Internet Newsgroups and
Bulletin Boards, which are related to your
organization, products and services. Make sure your
URL and email address is listed at the bottom of each
of your postings.
Be creative in finding new ways to offer useful
information on your Web site, which will draw more
viewers and lure back those who have already visited.
Reevaluate often and take an active role in keeping
your site active and current.
6. What's wrong with frames?
A normal site can have a search engine listing for
each page on the site. A framed site has only one URL
and therefore can only get one listing, which usually
only contains 'FRAMESET' info with no keywords which
search engine spiders cannot follow or rank. To see an
example, go anywhere on your or any other framed site
and view the source code. You'll notice two things.
First, it'll be the same page wherever you are on the
site. Second, as I said before, it'll most likely
'FRAMESET' info. This is exactly what the search
engine robot will see when it visits your site. Now
you can see why you'll end up with one weak listing,
if your site get listed at all.
There
are ways to use frames to your advantage. You'll have
to contact us for
that information.
7. What's wrong with CGI or dynamically
generated Web pages?
CGI applications are excellent for taking your site to
new levels of user interaction and making your life
easier. However, CGI-generated or dynamically
generated pages cannot be spidered by the search
engines. CGI-based shopping cart systems are perfect
examples of sites generated on-the-fly. The key fact
is this: search engine robots ignore URLs containing a
question mark or other characters that they do not
recognize.
There
are CGI systems that can generate searchable dynamic
pages. Just make sure your pages don't have a question
mark in the URL.
8. What is a META tag?
META
tags are codes in the HTML which are intended to help
certain search engine spiders get the site or page
properly listed. META tags should be used on all pages
to list keywords and a description of the page
content. Proper arrangement of keywords and
phrases in your META tag can help achieve high
rankings in some search engines. Make sure you
have a full understanding of what the search engine
requires before attempting to write your META tag your
self. If you are unsure about what the search
engine requires, you should have a professional with
years of experience create and maintain your META tag
for you.
9. How does
Accurate Online
access my Web
site to add doorway pages or page re-works?
Most times
Accurate Online
will need access to your server to
upload Web pages. This is usually in the form of FTP
(File Transfer Protocol) or FrontPage access
10. What is FTP or File Transfer Protocol?
FTP allows for the copy of files from one computer to
another over the Internet. To access your server with
FTP, we most often need the server address (usually
something like this, ftp.yourdomain.com) and a user
name and password.
11. What is FrontPage access?
FrontPage is a preparatory technology owned by
Microsoft. FrontPage is sometimes used to develop and
manage Web sites. If your site uses FrontPage, we most
often need the server address (usually something like
this, www.mydomain.com),
the Web site name (usually something like this, root
Web or my site), and a user name and password.
12. What if I am unable to allow
Accurate Online
to access
my server?
If you are unable to allow us access to your server
for uploads, we can work with the Webmaster or site
administrator for file exchange. For more information
please contact
Accurate Online
or your server administrator.
13. How do I know how well the
Accurate Online
marketing
strategies are working?
To help determine the marketing strategy and to gauge
how well we are doing, it is important that
Accurate Online
has
access to your log files or reports. Most ISPs
(Internet Service Providers) provide these. The
location and format of these files vary from ISP to
ISP. If you do not know where your log files or
reports are please contact you ISP, Webmaster, or
Server Administrator. These files or reports are
usually located within your FTP directories or on your
ISPs server. When
Accurate Online
gains access to your log
files we can determine if they need to be altered so
that we can extract the most important information. We
prefer common log files that include referral and
search engine information. If your logs do not contain
referral information, this feature can usually be
turned on easily. We can assist you or your ISP with
this as needed. If you do not have log files,
Accurate Online
can
set up reports for you.
14. Are there any negative effects of posting
messages to newsgroup?
Accurate Online
makes every effort to post messages to newsgroups
as strategically and responsibly as possible. However,
posting is sometimes subject to flaming
(negative feedback, usually by email) by someone who
doesnt appreciate the post. These flames are
usually mild and offer no real threat. If considerable
resistance to our posting is met, we will discontinue
further posting in these areas.
15. When doing Link Swaps or High Profile
Linking, why do we not see our link on the other site
right away?
When doing High Profile linking or link swaps,
Accurate Online
is
always at the mercy of the other sites Webmaster on
when or if they post a link. We will make every effort
to ensure that your link is promptly placed.
16. How do doorway pages work?
Accurate Online
creates doorway pages for certain keyword phrases
that target specific search engines. These pages
adhere to rather strict guidelines in order to meet
certain criteria for each search engine and ultimately
achieve the best rankings for you. Pages may sometimes
seem redundant and sometimes less grammatically
challenging than you might like, but this is necessary
and is a small compromise to make in order to achieve
good rankings and dramatically increase your traffic.
In short, please have faith in our experience with
search engine positioning.
